Lieutenant Louisa Maria Lucero and her squad would find a vacant hallway it was too quiet almost. It felt like they should have run into more of the pirates by now. Her officers made it to the door on Engineering and looked to her for the command to breach.

Louisa looked around carefully, the hall was eerie, but that was due to the nature of Klingon ships. Either way, something about it was wrong. "Five of you watch the hallway, the other five prepare to breach on my command, place the charge." She let everyone get into the correct positions before giving the signal to breach.

They breached and rushed into the room it was empty. The Starfleet officers made their way deeper just enough to find cover at waited for Lieutenant Lucero’s orders. There was something really wrong. There was something in the air, then a sound of beeping could be heard though the voice that came with it was muffled.

It was extremely quiet until Lucero heard that subtle beeping noise, the first thing that came into her mind was it being an explosive device of some sort, and it was her priority to save her men first, then figure it out. "Everybody out of the room! Now!" She shouted, making sure that as many soldiers could get out as possible before leaving the room herself.

Her team all hurried out the room. Moving as fast as they could to retreat behind cover. Though then the voice become more clear coming from the room. It was worse than Lucero and her team had thought. “Self destruct sequence initiated 20 mins remaining.” That is when the trap was sprung from behind three of her officers were taken out from disrupter fire before they even knew what was happening. The only chance they had was to disable the self destruct and take out the pirates that had surrounded them. Or they might not be able to rescue everyone.

[Comm] "Lucero to Stone and Eventide! Emergency situation, the mercenaries have activated a 20 minute self-destruct on the ship!" Lucero practically screamed into the comm line to make it extremely clear regarding the situation. Just after doing so she quickly peaked around the corner of her cover to try and see if there are any mercenaries she could shoot, looking down her sights she was prepared for one to pop up in her vision.

They seemed to be moving quickly trying to pick up ground their were several on the open only 4 actually were moving up slowly and darting in between cover. They continued firing at her and her officers and enlist team. Her officers respond with fire hitting two of the ones out in the open. From her count there were at least six left in the open rushing her position quickly.

Lucero quickly fired upon some of the open mercenaries that she could get her sights on, stunning them as needed and as much as possible as they rushed towards her position. She tried to take down at least two of them so there would be a clear number's advantage for her officers.

She in fact hit three before they could make it to her and her officers. Each one engaged a member of her team in hand to hand combat though very much out numbered. The one that engaged her was a big Klingon she could see the rage in the Klingon woman’s eye as she slashed at Lucero with a Bat’leth. She had been the only one not carrying a disruptor or a phaser. The other officers had gained up on the other two pirates an Nausicaan and another Klingon. (edited)

Lucero thought quickly about the situation, grabbing the d'k tahg from her belt and holding it in a reverse grip with the extra blades deployed to block a possible bat'leth swing, but she was smart. She knew that playing the defensive and evading attacks would be the best path in dealing with this fierce Klingon warrior, it wasn't that hard to dodge a bat'leth provided she didn't breathe down the neck of her opponent. Louisa carefully watched the movements of her attacker.

The Klingon woman swung her weapon at Lucero it was directed at Lucero's chest. She was incredibly strong. Lucero could her the air as it whistled when this woman swung her Bat'leth it was almost a sight to behold. Lucero's other officers were dog piling on the two mercenaries trying to knock them unconscious.

She quickly moved backwards to dodge the attack, it being easily telegraphed due to the nature of the bat'leth as a weapon. She'd use the downward momentum of the Klingon's attack to use her skills at martial arts to delivery a roundhouse kick to her side, expecting it to stagger the Klingon.

The woman was knocked over though as she disengaged Louisa in combat the four that had been lagging behind had crept a few feet closer to the team they fired at Lucero to give the Klingon woman some covering fire. Just as she was able to get up though they attempted to cease firing but, they weren't fast enough one of them hit the Klingon woman in the back as she stood up.

She quickly hit the dirt as the other Klingons began to fire upon her, looking towards the Klingon woman she was going to push towards her to keep her down, but as she got up and was hit in the back with a disruptor, Louisa giggled a bit and had to stifle a laugh from what just happened. It was a bit amusing, but there were more pressing manners, that being the Klingons coming towards her. She quickly grabbed her phaser rifle and scrambled into some cover before peaking out and shooting at them.

She was able to hit two of them they weren't expecting her to get her phaser back so quickly. They fell immediately. As she phaser fire hit them in the chest before they could even get one more shot off. Her aim was really impressive though she still had two more two deal with her squad was able to knock out the other two pirates before they had to scramble to cover before being hit. One of her team wasn't so luck and was hit in the back on their way to cover. (edited)

With only two remaining it was easy enough for Louisa to maneuver around and get to a different point of cover where she looked out from to fire upon the remaining pirates, figuring that it would be the best course of action to keep moving and then addressing the self-destruction issue.

She was able to hit the last two pirates that were advancing on her position. The arm rang out. "Five minutes till self-destruct." Her officers looked to their leader for orders. This situation didn't look good.

"We're going to try and jettison the warp core. If not, be prepared to beam out at the one minute mark." Louisa told those under her command before slinging her phaser rifle over her shoulder and rushing to one of the consoles.
